It is common for women to gain weight after delivering their child. This extra weight adds to the stress of several new things you have to take care of along with your baby. Usually, a woman can gain somewhere between 25-35 pounds during pregnancy.
Doctors usually recommended exercising and watching what you eat to lose this weight gradually over months. However, if you gained more weight than that or want to lose it quickly, you can follow these tips.
As strange as it may sound, going on a diet after delivering your baby is very harmful to your body. Not only will it lengthen the recovery period, but it will also add to the stress of not eating your favourite food and subduing your cravings. Instead, eat a nutritional meal regularly and limit the carb content.
After pregnancy, a woman's body requires a lot of nutrition to cope with those nine months of strain on the body. Choosing food with many nutrients will strengthen your body and give you more energy during the day. It will also make you feel full and suppress your appetite. You can eat meat, chicken, milk foods, fish, etc.
Some studies suggest breastfeeding can help you to return to your pre-pregnancy faster. While there is no correlation between weight loss in women who choose to breastfeed and those who do not, it is worth trying.
Water is a great way to clean your body and improve your digestive health and metabolism rate. Drinking plenty of water during the day will surely help you to quickly shed off water weight in the form of urination and sweat.
It is essential to stay on your feet, which might be taken care of when you have to take care of your newborn baby. However, it is vital to do some light cardio and aerobic training to burn off calories and facilitate weight loss.
It is a well-known fact that stress releases the stress hormone, which can affect your body's metabolism and make you fat. While it is impossible not to fuss about your newborn, it is still essential to rest appropriately and try not to stress.
Getting insufficient sleep can also increase fat in your body. It is important to sleep 8 hours every day. We understand that having a newborn is a full-day task, but it is vital to sleep while your baby sleeps to complete your 8 hours.
If you follow every one of these tips and are still not able to lose weight, you might want to ask for help. Consulting a dietician will help you understand your body and what it requires to shed those extra pounds.
Being a new mother is a stressful task, but it is vital to take care of yourself and your baby to remain strong and healthy.
